A clear path through whatever you're facing.

The law can feel like a maze of forms, deadlines and jargon, and most people meet it at the worst possible time. Stanford Legal starts with a conversation, not a file number, because the right advice depends on where you're headed and what you're carrying.

Our mission is to always be there to guide fellow Australians in life's biggest moments.

Stanford Legal follows the same six-step process on every matter, whether it's a settlement, a separation, a contract or a will: a free first conversation to establish the facts, the ground work to find out what you're really dealing with, your options and costs set out in writing before anything starts, the work itself carried by your lawyer, the outcome seen through to the end, and a relationship that lasts beyond it. You'll know where things are up to at every step, without having to chase.

OUR PROCESS

Six steps from first call to matter resolved.

A first conversation

Tell us what's happening, whether that's a contract you've just signed, a relationship that's ending, a business you're buying or a will you've been putting off. We'll listen, ask the questions that matter and tell you plainly where you stand, including whether you need a lawyer at all yet. No pressure, and no jargon.

We do the ground work

Before we give you advice, we get the facts straight. That means gathering the documents, running the searches, reading the contract or the orders line by line and checking every date that could catch you out. Nobody at Stanford Legal recommends a course of action until they know what they're standing on.

Your options, clearly presented

We set out the paths open to you, what each one involves, what it's likely to cost and what the trade-offs are that nobody mentions on the front page. You'll receive that in writing, with a clear costs agreement, before any work begins. The decision stays yours, and you'll make it knowing what you're choosing between.

We carry the work

Once you've decided, your lawyer takes it from there: drafting, negotiating, lodging, filing and dealing with the other side so you don't have to. Every deadline is tracked and every step confirmed, and you'll hear from us when something moves, not just when you ask.

Seen through to the end

A matter isn't finished when the paperwork is signed. We stay on it through settlement, through orders being made, through the final signature on a contract or a will, and where a loan is part of the picture we work alongside Stanford Financial so nothing falls between the two.

Here for what comes next

Life doesn't stop at one matter. When the next property comes along, the business grows, a family changes or a will needs updating, you'll be talking to someone who already knows your history and has your documents on file, rather than starting over from a blank page.
QUESTIONS

Frequently asked questions

Can't find an answer to your question?
What happens in the first consultation?
We listen. You tell us what's happening, what you're hoping for and how quickly it needs to move, and we tell you where you stand, what your options look like and what the next step would be. If your matter also touches a loan or a broker, we'll say so at the start, and we'll explain how Stanford Financial fits in before anything is arranged.
Do I need to bring anything to the first meeting?
Bring whatever you already have that relates to the matter: the contract, the orders, the lease, an existing will, or letters from the other side. If there's something specific we need to see, we'll tell you before you come in. If you have nothing yet, that's fine too, and we'll start from the conversation.
How does information move between Stanford Legal and Stanford Financial?
It doesn't, unless you say so. The two companies are separate, each with its own licence and obligations, so nothing about your matter is shared without your written consent. If you'd like both teams on your file, we'll set out in writing how the referral works and any benefit Stanford Group receives from it before anything is shared.
Will I deal with the same person the whole way through?
That's the aim. The lawyer you speak to first stays with your matter from that conversation to the end, and if a specialist needs to join, we bring them to you rather than sending you to start again with someone new.
