Probate and estate administration in Brisbane
When someone dies, the executor has a job to do, and we help them do it.
Probate is the Supreme Court's confirmation that a will is valid and that the executor can deal with the estate. In Queensland, applications go to the Supreme Court, whose Brisbane registry is on George Street, and the executor must publish a notice of intention to apply first. We prepare and file the application, then help collect the assets, pay the debts and tax, and distribute the estate. Where there's no will, we help the next of kin apply for letters of administration instead. If someone may contest the will, the time limits are strict: notice of a family provision claim must be given within six months of the death, and the claim filed within nine months.
